I use to snicker at parents who buy cake and goody bags for their kid’s celebration in school. Today, I’ve become one of those parents.
Today, we lug goody bags and a 2kg cake to J’s playgroup. When Teacher Neo brought the cake into the classroom, the children exclaim excitedly “Wow, what a big cake!” I looked at J and gave him a knowing smile and he nodded his head. We both know that the box contain the cake which he has chosen the design.
The teachers was kept busy setting up the cake and 17 children who are eager to lay their hands on the cake, thus they are very cautious to monitor any sudden movements that can tarnish the beautiful cake. Once the cake is all set up, 3 candles was lighted and the children started a chorus of “Happy Birthday to you” Just as the song ended and J was wanted to blow the candles, they started with the Chinese version. After they are done with that, the teacher asked J to make a wish but J was more anxious to blow out the candles! After what seems like an eternity to him, he finally blew out the candles.
My baby officially turns 3.
