Christmas @ Home

We have been celebrating Xmas since the 20th and we are finally down to the last celebration which we are having at home sweet home.

Foodwise, apart from the Xmas fanfare of logcake, ham and sausages, we also had Satay and salmon sashimi. A good mix of east meets west, just like our Xmas tree corner....keke.
Judging by the amount of presents that J received, I think next year, we need to have a bigger tree.

This year, we got J a Thomas the Train set.
"J, look at all your presents. There are so many people who loves and remember you. You've got to be thankful for all these blessings. But most important of all, we've got to be thankful to Jesus for that is what Christmas is all."

It seems not too long ago that we celebrated J's 1st Xmas and now we are celebrating his 2nd. Come next year, we will have another new addition to the family, little Mattias! God, thank you for a blessed 2007.

Cheers to 2008!

Xmas Celebration at the Court

And I don't mean the Sub Court or High Court but rather, Kentish Court.

We received an invitation to join G and her family for a Xmas celebration. It is also a good time for the 2 cousins, Shyen and J to get together and have some rowdy fun.
I think the adults had more fun watching the 2 boys amusing themselves.
We had a sumptuous dinner esp the DIY popiah and Mattias even got his 1st birthday present before he's born.
Tks for the invitation, G!

Annual SIM Gals Gathering

Once again, it is time for the annual SIM Gals gathering. "SIM Gals" is not referring to any beauty pagent but rather a group of gals who got to know each other while pursuing our Diploma at Singapore Institute of Management about 8-9 years ago.

We used to study together during the exam periods and ever since, we have kept a close relationship.

Over this period of time, most of us have settled down with kids. What used to be 6 crazy partying gals has mellowed down to 2 crazy partying gals + 4 mummies with kids in tow.
We hope to keep this good old tradition of Xmas gathering for a long time to come! Cheers!

Christmas came early

Christmas came early for J when his cousins, C,D,E lugged his Xmas present all the way from Bedok to Wlands.

His cousins helped him to open the present while J looked on. He is totally unaware of what the big box contains. Actually he seems more excited with the box and wrapping rather than the content itself.

The content took some setting up and viola, it is a wash and cook set! Wah....talk abt starting young.....seems like I have to start training him up to be a SNAG who wash and cook!

Hong Kong Trip (3-6 Nov 2007)

"J, do you want to go to Hong Kong?" J replied "Ki ki!".

You may wonder what "ki ki" means. It is J's version of "Mickey". He knows that he can get to see Mickey in Hong Kong Disneyland. While preparing for the trip, J has also learnt to say the word "Hong Kong".

On 3 Nov, we set off for our 2007 Family trip to Hong Kong with 阿公 and 阿嬷. 姑姑 and 表姐 have left 1 day earlier than us and we will meet them there for the rest of the trip.

On Sat morning, we woke up bright and early to take a CX flight to HK. On the plane, J actually dictated that I have to take the middle seat while he takes the window seat. He even insisted on watching the inflight movies. He sure acted like a seasoned traveller.

Upon arrival in HK, we met up with the rest of the gang before proceeding for dinner and shopping at Ladies Street in Mongkok. We returned to the hotel and finally retired by 11.30pm.

On the 2nd day, we went shopping at Causeway Bay and took a night tour up to the Peak, visted Madam Trussard Wax Museum, Avenue of Stars and ended the tour at Ladies Street again. It was another late night for us and by this night, both K and I are tired out. The only one who refuses to sleep is....yes, you guessed it --->J.

Finally, the day we looked forward to has arrived! Disneyland, here we come! But before that, we need to kick start the day with a good meal of dim sum. After dim sum breakfast, we made our way to DL. Throughout the trip, J has this blur look on his face. I don't know if he is stunned by all the cartoon characters or simply confused by the amount of activities around. Picture taking one moment, rides the other.

Our resolution to last till closing time resolved at around 4+ and we decided to go back to the hotel to rest.
When it was time to go out for dinner, J started throwing tantrum and refuse to step out of the hotel room. Either he is tired from going out or there are simply too many gimmicks in the hotel room that is distracting him. Finally at 8pm, we managed to coax him to leave the room so that we can have dinner. After dinner, we took a walk along Temple St before going back to the hotel to pack as we are leaving the next day.

By day 4, I am ready to go home. After being 4 days of full-time parents, both K and I are looking forward to the routine of being at home. On the plane, J has to throw one last tantrum and vomitted his dinner. Despite being a seasoned traveller, I did not pack a set of clothes and J ended up 1/2 naked throught the flight sans a jacket. We finally touched down at Changi Airport and it will be a while before the thought of travelling with J crosses my mind again.

Funny faces

Many whom have not met J for a long time will be in for a shock.

J has changed. Nope, I'm not talking about his looks but his temperament. Many would remember J as a quiet and docile child. Well, that is not the J that we know today.

J has become more active, vocal and demanding. His antics has increased tremendously too.

I was trying out my new camera and was casually using him as an object. Guess what? He started making funny faces at it. Take a look at these funny faces.

My heart's kodak moment

J has graduated from his cot bed to a single mattress that we place on the floor beside our bed. Somehow, at 5am every morning, he will wake me up. Soon i realized that he wanted me to sleep with him. Thus this becames our 5am habit where I have to drag myself out of bed and sleep on the mattress with J.

As tiring as it may be, especially with my expanding tummy, I have to admit that I do enjoy the tender moments we have. J will snuggle next to me and I can smell the sweetness of his skin. I tell myself to seize every of such moments because soon, he will be too old to even want me to sleep with him.

Before he fall asleep again, I will whisper sweet nothings into his ears. One morning, when I said "Mummy loves J", J replied with "Hug hug" and pulled my arm to wrap around his tiny waist. It was a magical moment for me as he was in a foetal position near to my torso area. At that point, my heart took a mental picture. I call it "my heart's kodak moment". It is a picture that will not corrode with time, nor is there any "delete" button.

With my arms around my firstborn and the baby in my womb sandwiched between us, I went to sleep in maternal bliss.

Go Go Bambini

Seems like Go Go Bambini is the in thing for children nowadays. It is a indoor children’s entertainment centre offering active play in an air-conditioned environment for children.

R decides to organise an outing for the April's mummy so I decide to join in. Afterall, it's been a while since I last met up with her and the other mummies. Furthermore, it was a public holiday in HK so I don't have to work.

"Wow! Look at this place! Coolz..."

"Helpppppp! I can't get out of this balls pit!"

The minute we step into the play area, J was fascinated. There are so many things to explore. He can climb and play all over the 3-storey high playscape while I kick back and relax over lunch and a cup of coffee. In between, I did try to join in the fun but seems like it takes a lot of energy to keep up with this little fella.

"Yikes....these allies have such sharp teeth. I better climb onto this tree truck so that it can't bite me. Shoo shoo...go away!"
"It just refuse to go away....then let me run away instead"

J had fun but he was exhausted after playing for abt 2 hours. This is definitely a place that I would return. Btw, they have great coffee too.
"Neh neh neh neh neh, you cannot catch me"

Growing up too fast

I walked out of my home office to see J, looking all grown up when seated in his chair (hand-me-down from his cousins), scrawling away on one of the books (another hand-me-down).

All of a sudden, I felt that J has indeed grown up. Part of me misses his baby days but part of me looks forward to his greater achievements in life.

I was telling S that J has brought so much joy into our lives. He is up to something new everyday. Some of his antics makes us laugh like mimicing the muscle man from the Mocca ad. Some of it makes us wonder how to discipline him in the right way like in the pix at the bottom where he uses his leg to push the table away.
Nevertheless, J has been a wonderful child and I couldn't ask for anything more.

Artist @ Work

Yonks ago, K and I bought a coloring set consisting of color makers, crayon and pencils for C,D,E. They have since outgrown it and we just left it on the top shelf, clean forgotten abt it.

It has never crossed our mind that one day, our son will be the one playing with it.

Look what I found, J. Wow, this box of coloring equipments has been sitting here for ages. Since your cousins have outgrown it, I think it is time for you to inherit it. Let me get some papers for you and you can start your masterpiece.

Haha, you have made a mess of all the crayons and pencils huh? Well, I guess that's the way artist works right? Are you trying to draw a car?
When you are done with all the drawing and painting, let's stick them up on the wall so that everyone can admire your work ok?

The bear that lives in the Hundred Acre Wood

Winnie the Pooh, the lovable bear who's stuffed with fluff, is also called Pooh, or Pooh Bear, but never, ever, just Winnie. Pooh endlessly craves honey and his favourite catch phase is "Do you have any honey?"

J tenderly address Winnie the Pooh as "Poo". Poo is his favourite Disney® character. That is why we had a Winnie the Pooh-theme party when J turned one. Even at 16 mths now, J still gives Poo a hug every morning and takes Poo around the house. J also love "feeding" Poo some imaginary food.

I've always felt that J strike a resemblence to Poo when he was younger. They have the same button nose, small eyes and huge smile. However, the greatest resemblence have to be the honey-filled tummy! Take a look at the photo below. Do you agree with me?

King of Fruits

I am a huge fan of the durian fruit. I was born to eat durians. The heavenly scent of the fruit always bring back wonderful memories of my childhood days. I recall gathering in the kitchen with my family; enjoying a durian feast and finishing it off with a serving of salt water to reduce the heatiness.

Of course I would want my loved one to enjoy this magnificent fruit the way I do. Well, man propose, God dispose as I married a man who is adverse towards it. But all is not lost, as I now pin my hopes on J to become my ally in this durian conquest.

J, look this is the durian fruit. It is Mama's favourite fruit. I think it is time to induct you into the clan. Have a taste of it. Close your eyes and savour the sweet bitterness of the creamy flesh. When Mama was younger, durian was a rare treat. Thus the moment was always treated with great anticipation!

I really hope you will enjoy this fruit as much as I do. Then it can become one of those activities that both of us share behind your Papa's back.

Hit me baby one more time

The day is 24 Jul. I am down to my last stick of home pregnancy test. I have tested 3 times but the results have been faint. Will I be able to get a clear sign?

The 5 mins wait is up. The result is still faint though it shows a positive sign.

I guess it is better to visit the gynae for a clearer result.

It is good to see Dr Adrian Tan of ACJ Clinic again. He is so-ever bubbly and positive. I can never forget how he walked into the delivery room with his yellow PCK boots when I was delivering J in 2006.

After a quick catchup, he set me up for a scan to confirm the pregnacy. "Yup, you are pregnant.", he announced as-a-matter-of-factly. The black water sac on the left of my womb confirms that.
The EDD would be 28 March. Seems like God took me seriously when I prayed for a 2-yr gap between J and my 2nd-born. I hope I don't go into labour when I celebrate J's 2nd birthday on 2 April 2008.
On 30 Jul 2007, I went home to announce to J that come next year, he will be upgraded to be a "Kor Kor".

An apple a day keeps J prancing away

J, stop moving so that I can take a picture of you with the apple. Stop prancing around, boy! Look at the sweat on your forehead. Finish up that apple fast ok, it is already starting to oxidize. No, no, no....it's not a toy, its a fruit. You are suppose to eat it, not play with it. Oh, I give up. Do whatever you want with the apple.

J usually have a serving of fruit at 4pm daily after his nap. But last night, out of fun, we gave him a whole fruit for him to chew on instead of grating it into chunky puree. And chew he sure did!

J was so happy to have the whole apple that he prance around the whole night with the apple in his hands. He wouldn't even stop to pose for a picture!

The Animal Resort

As Hong Kong celebrates 1st Jul, I get to enjoy the extra public holiday! It is too much of a waste to be hiding at home thus we decide to get out and have some family time. Thus, we head towards "The Animal Resort" at Seletar Farmway 5.

Along the way, we passed by JL's house and I realized I am not the only one stuck in the ulu part of Spore. So does JL!

"Come and 'mum mum'. My mama says carrots are good for me so i guess it must be good for you too."

"Aiyoh, this creature takes so long to even finish 1 stick of carrot. I'm just gonna wedge it in the fence and let him self-feed and come check on him later."

Simon says "Look 2 the front!"

Simon says "Look at the floor!"

Simon says "Face off"

J had so much fun feeding the bunnies and hamsters, chasing the black swan, looking at the fishes in the pond and even got up close with a real live dog!
