Fixing Gundam

It's the eve of the public holiday and J's cousins, D and E came to our place to stay for the night.

D & E are 2 active boys and when they arrived at our house, J was kinda upset with them for running all over the place; creating havoc with their kick about. You should have seen how J gave the 2 boys a good "scolding" and telling them to behave themselves by frantically waving "cannot" and shaking his head at them.

As J begin to warm up to them, he even joined them in fixing up the Gundam figurine.

Afterall, boys will be boys.

At ECP with Papa and Mama

Arrgghhhh! I shouldn't have told you we are going to the beach today. Is that the reason why you woke up at 5am today? Oh gosh, J, pls catch some sleep so that you will have energy later. Mama is gonna ignore you, I'm sure you'll fall asleep at some time. Zzzzzzz.......

What?? It is 9am already? And seems like it is a good day to hit the beach. OK, let's begin "Operation Super-fast". Let's get changed and prepare to conquer East Coast Park in 1/2 an hour.

The park is desserted today as it is a Thursday. Had it not be a public holiday in Hong Kong today, Mama would be working.

Let's go back to our favourite spot where there is great shade. Hey J, did you realized that this is the 3rd time this month that we came to the beach? You are fast becoming a beach boy huh? But do you know what is the difference this time? That's right, Papa is with us this time round! Hurray!

We stayed on the beach for almost 1 hr when J started feeling restless. We walked around the beach for another 1/2 hr. When J started to cling onto me, I knew it's time for his mid morning nap which he missed earlier on. We washed up quickly at the nearest public toilet and shortly after we walked out of the toilet, J has already fell asleep in the arms of our helper.

With K being out of town so often, this is indeed a rare opportunity for us to spend some time together as a family. It is wonderful to see K having so much fun playing with J.

6 precious steps

C'mon J, you can do it! Walk towards Mama. Stable yourself, don't worry, I'm here for you.

Yes! That the way, J! One, two, three, four, five, six steps! Hurray, you can walk! Well done, my son. I am so proud of you.

"Mama, look what I found!"

"Mmm, I wonder what can I hide in it? Maybe those yucky mum mum that Mama forces me to eat"

"Oops....I think Mama heard me
mumbling to myself."

"Mama, I think this belongs to you.As a good little boy, I'm returning it to you. Hee hee!...Wah, I didn't realized that I've walked so far leh"

I am glad I am beside you when you:
1. Lifted your head by yourself when you were 2 months old.
2. Learn to flip over. (I still watch the video of you trying to do that and it still tickles me to see how you struggle and even got angry. But you never gave up!)
3. Sat up on your own.
4. Started on leopard crawl and transitting to crawling on fours.
5. Pull to stand.
6. Self stand on your 1st birthday.

J, I think I am the most fortunate mum among some of the other mummies to be able to watch you grow up every minute and every day.

God, thank you for the blessings you have given unto me. It is through these 6 steps that I learnt to count my blessings one by one.

3 years and counting

Hey J, today is a special day for Papa and Mama. Do you know why? Coz 3 years ago, Papa and Mama got married on this day.

Your Papa gave me a bouquet of flowers with a card containing a lovely message that he composed (so he claims).

Don't you think they are beautiful, J? Yup, I defintely thinks so.

I still remember most of the details of that day like having to wake up early to do my makeup, how the 阿姨们 teased Daddy, walking down the church aisle, pledging our marriage vow, the wedding dinner, the yum sengs.

These 3 years hasn't been smooth sailing since Papa and Mama both took turns to work overseas. Being able to conceive you was in itself a miracle. But....we've made it so far. Cheers!

Happy Mother's Day

It is my very first Mother's Day but no celebration coz:
1. J is too young to celebrate it for me.
2. K is not in town
3. My mum's not in town.

However, in church today; Pastor asked every mother who are present to stand up so that he can pray a blessing unto us. One of the sentence said strike me a lot. He said that a mother's love is probably the closest thing to how God's love feels like.

This Mother's Day, instead of receiving a gift or a celebration (hint hint K, are you reading this?), I would like to give J something. A song that represent how I feel about him and what type of person I would like him to grow up to be.

The song is called "I hope you dance". (Turn on your speaker to listen to the song played on this blog)

J, this song is for you. Enjoy!

I Hope You Dance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder,
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger,
May you never take one single breath for granted,
GOD forbid love ever leave you empty handed,
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance,
Never settle for the path of least resistance,
Livin' might mean takin' chances but they're worth takin',
Lovin' might be a mistake but it's worth makin',
Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter,
When you come close to sellin' out reconsider,
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along,
Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone.)
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
Dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance..
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along,
Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone.)
Saturday's Night Out
The exams are over and J's cousins are coming over. It is almost a month since they last saw their 宝贝.
J's 姑姑 and cousins are thrilled that J is able to "walk" by holding onto one's hand.
S suggested taking parents out for a simple dinner in celebration of Mother's Day. Thus, we went to Jack's Place. As it's Mother's Day, they have a set meal and limited ala-carte.
Wow, there's so much to eat huh? No wonder you are not paying attention to your home-made porridge that 阿嬷 made. Mmmm...seems like Mama has to resort to my limited repertoire of "Baby Signing Time" and excerpts from "Wheels on the Bus" to make you eat...."baby, baby, baby signing time....."
Err...why are you eyeing the seafood spaghetti? You want some? Well...on the account that you have finish almost all your porridge and endured my out-of-tune singing, I shall give you some. How do you like it, J? What?? You want more? Mmmm...I knew that was coming.
After dinner, we went for a walk in the mall and J saw a kiddy ride and insisted on climing on it. I've had 2 experiences of letting him on the rides only to have him "run" away from it once we slotted in the money (So far I've spent $1.20 on this experiment).
J, you want to sit on the kiddy ride? Sure, no problemo. Here's one with Garfield on it. Why don't you sit beside him? You can hold onto the wheel and pretend that you are driving taking Garfield for a ride. Cool huh?
Haha, I don't have to spend a single cent but yet managed to keep J entertained. Btw, the kiddy ride is....err...out of service.
Outing with April babies
J and T have organized an outing today to the East Coast beach for all the April babies. It has been a long time since we met up with R, I, K and L so I'm making it a point to bring J to meet up with them.
J is co-operative by waking up early. In fact, he has been waking up quite early recently to my dismay. We reached the beach at 9.45am and had breakfast at BK but J was too excited to hit the beach and refuse the yummy scramble egg.
Hello R, I, K and L! Long time no see. Hey, we have a new friend, S. Welcome to this playgroup.
The weather was great and we have a spot under the shade. Let's get the beach toys out and have some sandy fun!
For some of the babies, it is the 1st time on the beach and thus didn't quite enjoyed themselves. But J sure did! Well done J, we should do this more often ya?
Hey J, let's go down to the water and enjoy the waves splashing against our feets ok. You want to sit on the beach for a while? Shall we do that to cool off the heat?
Wish your Papa was here so that we can spend some time together as a family.
When Papa return, let's ask him to bring us to the beach again ok?
Welcome to Singapore
Hey J, Aunty B and her son, SP, is visiting us in Singapore.
Aunty B is Mama's friend from Hong Kong and we got to know each other from Mama's work. The last time she saw you was when you were 6 mths old.
This time round, Mama bought 2 presents for her son, SP. Let's go have dinner with them and give SP the presents ok?
SP, hope you like the presents we bought for you! Hey, J, did you see how SP's eyes lighted up when he received the presents? Mama is glad that he likes it.
Mama has chosen to have dinner at Globetrotters so that SP and you can play in the children's room after dinner while we adults chat. Then both of you won't be bored.
"SP kor kor, have a cup of tea. As you are my guest, I have to serve you well"
"Mama, may I take SP kor kor for a joy ride after dinner?"
B and SP, hope you had a great time in Singapore and have enjoyed our company. See you soon.
Rise and shine, sleepy head, we're heading for the gym
Rise and shine, sleepy head. We’ve got a long day ahead of us today.
We’ll go for a morning workout at “My Gym” before heading for 外婆’s house in the afternoon.
We need to move on double beat in order to make it on time ok? That mean no lingering in your bath tub and no taking your own sweet time having breakfast in front of the TV. Let’s move it move it.
Thanks to 阿公 for sending us to class thus we can make it in time. Yippee!
Wow! This place is huge with many “gym equipments” to explore. I think this is going to be fun, isn’t it J?
Let’s put on our socks and start with some warm up exercises with the instructor. C’mon J, let’s stretch and bend those muscles. Now, we can go hit the stations.
This month’s theme is tumbling so let’s do some tumbling too. 1, 2, 3 go! Well done, J! That was a good tumble.
After a strenuous exercise, we need to warm down. Let's do that by sitting with your new friends for a self-play session ok? This is when Mama will leave you for a while and you will keep yourself entertained. This is suppose to help you build up your self-confidence and independence.
That was a good workout isn’t it? Did you enjoy yourself? Seem like you did. Alright then, we’ll sign up for the class but that means for the next 8 wks, we have to rise and shine for the class ok?
Bubble Bath
You wanna try something different today during bath time, J? Yeah? What abt a bubble bath?
Why a bubble bath; your inquisitive mind may ask. Ahhh, son, let me educate you.
Bubbles on top of the water, less ambiguously known as a foam bath (see photo), can be obtained by adding a product containing foaming surfactants to water and temporarily aerating it by agitation eg by the fall of water from a faucet.
The practice is popular for personal bathing because the foam insulates the bath water, keeping it warm for longer.
It can also keep the body of the bather from being visible, preserving modesty while giving the appearance that a performer who is actually clothed is tub-bathing normally.
Children find foam baths particularly amusing, so they are an inducement to get them into the bathtub.
With all being said, I think the last paragraph makes the most sense to you, right?
Let's jump in before all the bubbles are gone. Splash!
