Learning to let go

Today, J announced that he won't be going with me to my mum's place. Instead, he is going out with his 大伯.

Since his birth, J and I are inseparable except for the times when I am on overseas or when other members of the family takes him out but those times doesn't last for more than a few hours. He has never spent a whole day without me.

A part of me (just a small part) felt reluctant to let him go even though I welcome the break and opportunity to spend the day with M. I teased J that he is a big boy now and doesn't need me anymore. His reply was "I still love you Mum but I want to go out with 大伯." At that moment, I knew my baby is growing up and on his way to independency. In future, he may choose his friends over me, or his girlfriend(s) or his studies or his hobbies. One day, he will be someone else's boyfriend or husband or a little child's father.

As he learns to deal with independency, I am learning to let go. To let him have more of his personal space and preferences; to let him grow up.

One day, J will outgrow my lap but he will never outgrown my heart. At the meantime, I still have my other baby, M who say "Mummy, don't go" in his dreams. Ahhh....how sweet are the sound of those 3 words.

Baby's day out (Part 2)

M got lucky again as J doesn't want to go out with us. (See above post)

Before going to my parent's place, my mum and I did a little shopping at the Marina area and had lunch in a Japanese restaurant. While I was feeling M his lunch, he pointed towards my food and said "Mummy, eat". Awww....my little SNAG.

When we got to my parent's place, my dad took him for a walk and after that, took a super long nap as J was not there to disturb him. He must be thinking that it is his lucky day as J was not there to snatch his toys either.

Baby's day out (Part 1)

M’s big break finally came! He has been living behind his brother’s shadow but today he is the STAR!

As I need to run an errand in town, I decide to take M with me while J is in school. And it has been a long time since I took M out by myself as usually, J or my domestic helper will play gooseberry. As I don’t have to rush back to pick J back from school as my FIL is doing it, I took the opportunity to have brunch with my buddies. Not only does M have my full attention, he has 3 other ladies to fuss over him. No wonder he was beaming. He even took picture with 2 beautiful ladies, V and ahem….myself.

When it was time to go home, M was already feeling tired and slept on my chest while we were in the taxi. At I listen to his breathing, it felt like the whole world has disappear and it is just him and me. It was a moment of bliss for both of us and I simply have to cuddle him tighter.

Day 1 without K

Missed K by a mere 1 hour +. I landed at 7am while K's flight took off at 5.50am.

The longest we were apart was 3 months when I was working in HK. This time round, it will be 6 months. Whenever he is not around, I would mop around even though there are many activities to be done. For some reason, something felt missing - but of course; he is missing.
