Farewell to the Class of 2014

Today is the last day of school for M and it is in the form of a farewell party for the students and their family.

There was worship, sharing by the parents and students, performance by the students. The principal also put together a photo montage of the students' preschool journey. Many parents was holding back tears as the teachers' love and guidance accompanied our children for the past years and we are grateful. I will miss listening to the stories of what M did in school today with their friends.

Throughout the photo montages,  M sat solemnly. I know what is going on as he has warned me of it. At the finale of singing 'Auld Lang Syne', he started tearing. And soon tearing turned to crying. Mrs Tan, the Principal took noticed and gave his a long hug. So did some teachers and parents.

This is a side of M I didn't knew existed. He is usually aloof and reserved when it comes to showing emotional. My heart hurts so much to see him crying but yet I am comforted that he is capable of feeling so much in his heart.

The time to dance is coming soon

Lord, I claim your promise for the matter which I am wailing for now. I will await the moment which I can dance.

Psalm 39
11You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
12 that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. Lord my God, I will praise you forever.

Seek Him

A devotion which brought peace to my troubled heart. Lord help me to deal with the situation at work. Open up doors.

Jonah 2:1
He said:
“In my distress I called to the Lord, and he answered me. From deep in the realm of the dead I called for help, and you listened to my cry.

Can the heart think?

Tonight's topic set by Matt is 'If you can create a new body part, what will it be? And where will you put it?'

I said I wanted another brain and put it beside my heart.

Jordan asked 'So that you can think with your heart?'

Ahhh...such innocence in that question.

In time to come, he will learn that the heart is totally incapable of thinking. It needs the brain to be close by to guard it.

God reads heart

God does more than than hear our prayers. He reads heart. I cannot hide.

I am not forsaken

A passage that speaks volume to my heart especially in verse 10. And He has given me much more.

Psalm 27:10
Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me.

Do not move ahead of God

Reminder to self: Do not move ahead of God and take things into your own hand. Otherwise, you have to deal with the consequences.

You mean a lot to me too

For someone who is camera adverse, this means a lot to me that he readily poses for a photo so that his friend's mum can send it to me.

Such is his trust in me

M was monkeying around right before bedtime. After jumping from the bay window to the bed, he stopped short as he tasted blood in his mouth.
Initially, I thought he had hurt himself but further checking showed that his front tooth which is loose is knocked looser due to the light impact of him jumping around.
Thus the drama unfolds. With a mouth full of blood and flowing tears, he tried to pull his very loose milk tooth out.
After about 15 mins of trying and crying, he turned towards me and asked if I can pull it out for him.
I was tasked with this sacred responsibility. What if? What if? So many what ifs. But a mother gotta do what a mother gotta do - suck it in and pretended to be brave.
Looking at his tearful eyes and bloody mouth, I took a tissue and wrap it round the tiny tooth. 1, 2, 3, yank! It came off without any resistance. And M didn't even felt that it has came off till I told him.
10 mins later, he is monkeying around again.
Just before he sleeps, I gave him a hug and thanked him for trusting me. I told him that it is my job to always take care and protect him from any hurt.
He acknowledged with a toothless grin.

女儿是爸爸前辈子的情人

When I had to link arm with my mum to support her walking, it felt like a cross between 害羞 and 陌生.

But when I do that with Dad, it felt familiar. Like 似曾相识.

Strange.

All connected

While having a conversation with M on why he has a photographic memory. I casually mentioned that I wanted an alarm clock for my birthday and he reminded me of it.

Mum: M, why do you remember all these minor details?

M: Mum, do you know that everyone has these 2 connections in their brain? (Made an imaginary line from both side of his temples meeting in the middle of his forehead)

But not everyone's is joint. Some people's one are not connected so they cannot remember a lot of things.

But mine are joined so tightly. That is why I can remember everything.

Mum: OK that makes sense.
(Trying to hold back laughter. Thinking - wait till he meets those whose screws are loose in their brains. Wonder what will he say.)

Things I do while he sleeps

He doesn't know this but when he is asleep, I will lie down beside and cuddle him.

I would smell his hair and skin. Hold his small hand. Kiss his baby smooth cheek. Once I even kiss him on his lips, something which he hates.

I would look intently at his perfectly formed nose. Listen to his rhythmic breathing.

I reminisce the past; wondering how he got so skinny when he was once chubby. I replay the day; recalling how adult-like he sounded just a few hours ago. I imagine his future; wondering what he will grow up to be.

It has been getting harder recently. Letting M grow up. He is the last in line. My last born. My baby.

A few more nights please. Just a few more to let me watch him sleep.

Being philosophical

I told M that he has to wait 5 mins till J complete his homework before they can play.

M says 5 mins is 5 X 60 secs.

I was surprised that he knew timing and asked where did he learn it from.

His reply was simple - I just grew up learning.
